32-bit RISC microcontroller for high-performance inverter control systems

The V850E/IF3 is a 32-bit RISC microcontroller for high-performance inverter control systems. It includes a high-speed

CPU of 64 MHz, multifunction timer, 10-bit resolution A/D converter, high-speed serial interface, software pull-up resistor,

reset IC function, and LVI, all on-chip. It is also equipped with two PWM timer (inverter timer) circuits with dead time for

inverter control, two 12-bit resolution A/D converter circuits, operational amplifiers for current amplification, and

overcurrent detection comparators, running on a single 5 V power supply. Having a 80-pin package, the V850E/IF3 is an

All Flash product with a built-in 128 KB or 256 KB flash memory. It therefore enhances system performance, and helps

to achieve system miniaturization and cost reduction. The V850E/IF3 also has an emulator for on-chip debugging

functions together with a 64 MHz full-function in-circuit emulator, allowing the establishment of a debugging environment

conforming to the development environment.

● Improves high performance at 64 MHz/86 MIPS

The V850E1 CPU core improves high-speed processing at 86 MIPSNote under 64 MHz

operation, assisting the performance enhancement of system functions and introduction of

multifunction by software. This microcontroller that is capable of an interrupt response

time of 62.5 ns (at 64 MHz operation) is most suitable for high-speed high-precision

inverter control systems.

● On-chip high-resolution multifunction inverter control timer

The inverter timer (TAB + TMQOP) has a 64 MHz (15.6 ns) resolution, and consists of a 16-bit counter, a total of four

compare registers for carrier or duty, and a 10-bit dead time timer. The four compare registers can be written

simultaneously, allowing safe and highly precise output waveform generation. Furthermore, a 12-bit resolution A/D

converter conversion trigger can be generated at any timing through synchronous operation of the 16-bit timer/counter

(TAA) and TAB.
